Praise The Lord,
There is an old saying that I want us to stop
saying: It says, Do as I say, not
as I do. Saints, real saints,
should never have to make that excuse.
Do as I say, not as I do is an admonitory order that is
self-deprecating. It means
"don't imitate my behavior but obey my instructions. Family, for those of us who are serious about
living for God, our lifestyles don’t say…do as I say and not as I do. But rather, do as I do and say as I
say. Consider Psalms 37:25 for a
moment. Which says, I have been young, and now am old; yet have
I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. Please be careful not to miss the Psalmists
point. He did not question that
the righteous may be temporarily forsaken, needy and poor. Rather, he observed that nowhere can it
be shown that the righteous have experienced continued desertion and
destitution. God does not abandon his people; he cares for them
and provides for them. For those
who have lived long enough in this world to see that God does finally right
wrongs and avenge gross injustice, the psalmist’s declarations are true even if
the short term offers many temporary exceptions. I am clear now concerning the meaning of Psalms
37:25, David is saying, if we live a righteous life, we will never be forsaken. If our righteous example inspires
another person to righteousness, they will never beg for bread…because they
will never be forsaken! Mothers, if you set a good example for your
children, God will bless you. If
your children are inspired by your example, they will be blessed as well. Our philosophy must be, “Do as I
do…live as I live…say as I say! Each of us has only one life to live, let’s live it
right! Since each of us has only
one life to live, live it precise!
Because we have one life to live, live it with purpose! Realizing that, live it righteously!
